Getting around

Public Transit Metro Vancouver is served by TransLink’s system of buses, commuter railway, and automated rapid transit rail lines. Waterfront Station, located in Downtown Vancouver, is the major hub for TransLink services. From here, within 5-minutes, you will be able to walk to the Vancouver Convention Centre and a cluster of multiple WorldMUN Village Hotels including the Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside Hotel and the Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Vancouver.

  • SkyTrain: Automated Rapid Transit
SkyTrain is the world's longest computer-driven rapid transit rail system and includes the Expo, Millennium and Canada Lines which run trains every 2-3 minutes. The Canada Line connects Downtown Vancouver with Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and the nearby municipality of Richmond in just 25-minutes.

  • SeaBus
The SeaBus provides passenger ferry service from Waterfront Station in Downtown Vancouver to Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver. Crossing Burrard Inlet between the two terminals takes 12 minutes. Both terminals provide connections to other transit services.

  • West Coast Express
This passenger railway links downtown Vancouver (at Waterfront Station) with suburbs to the east.

  • Public Buses
An extensive and frequent network of bus services operate throughout the region. Buses in the City of Vancouver run every 7-15 minutes during peak and mid-day hours.

For travel to the University of British Columbia campus in West Point Grey, take any bus that states "UBC" as its final destination. In Vancouver, bus routes #4, #9, #17, #25, #41, #43, #44, #49, #84, #99 B-Line, #258 and #480 will all take you to UBC. For the quickest routes to campus from Downtown Vancouver, take the #44 (only during mid-day and peak hours) or the #99 "UBC" B-Line rapid express (board across the street from Broadway-City Hall Station after getting off the Canada Line).

  • Google Transit
Metro Vancouver was the first Canadian city to partner with Google Transit when it first launched in 2005. Download Google Maps to your mobile device and you can use Google Transit to get route and transit information, phone numbers for local business and even figure out where you are, with or without GPS.

Taxi There are four taxi companies in Vancouver. Finding a taxi is easy if you are in the Downtown Vancouver area, but if you are not it is probably best to call a taxi company and request pick-up. From Vancouver International Airport to Downtown Vancouver, a taxi ride is about CAD$40.00 and 50-minutes long (during peak and mid-day hours).
