Ting Kelly
Venue Manager
Dear Vancouver WorldmMUN Host Team and the Harvard WorldMUN committee,

My name is Ting Kelly and Iʼm from San Francisco, California. Iʼm a 4th year international student at UBC, majoring in International Relations, with a focus on International Development. This year Iʼll be serving as one of the Venue Managers in the Event Services Committee of the Vancouver Host Team. This is my first year with WorldMUN, and I hope it will lead to more involvement in the future! I have a background in event planning, marketing and graphic design, so the idea of planning the social event evenings for the delegates of WorldMUN is so exciting! I am hoping to pursue a career in hospitality services (everything from food & beverage to hotel management to tourism) while freelance writing and photographing as an international correspondent for various magazines and publications.

In addition to WorldMUN, I will be serving as the Executive Editor of the UBC Journal of International Affairs, serving as a staff writer and photographer for the UBC communitywide newspaper, The Ubyssey, doing marketing and event planning for the Friends of the UBC Farm, volunteering as an Urban Farmer at the UBC Farm (I love growing my own food and learning about sustainable agriculture). Last year, I was the VP Director for the UBC Fashion Show, which challenged me and gave me incredible event-planning and team management skills.

On the sideline, I have a plethora of interests and passions. Firstly, my love of travel. I am half Chinese and half Irish-American, and so I have had the privilege to travel to many countries in Asia and Europe. While on exchange last year in Barcelona, I pursued my love for photography and returned home with other 30,000 photographs, which I am now working on compiling into a photography book. I have been communicating with gallery owners in Gastown to showcase my work in future exhibitions. Secondly, I am an avid blogger and magazine fanatic. I currently run three different blogs - a food blog, literary blog and photography blog. With an infatuation with journalism and fashion, I have worked with several fashion magazines, newspapers and blogs in Vancouver. I am currently on a quest to discover “the best of” Vancouver foodie hotspots. I am also addicted to Moksha hot yoga and brown-rice sushi and dark chocolate. I plan on doing my yoga teachersʼ training in India and Brazil in the next few years, while traveling around South America working with cacao farmers and NGOs to improve fair-trade agricultural policies.

I canʼt wait to meet the rest of the Vancouver Host Team as well as the Harvard Committee! Please add me to Facebook or contact me via email if you would like to get in touch or have any questions! Iʼm confident of our abilities as a team and am so pumped to make this the best WorldMUN in history. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Cheers,
Ting
